Signs contract extension

Klaus signed a contract extension with Union Berlin after stepping up impressively as a surprise starter following injuries to both Frederik Ronnow and Matheo Raab, the club announced.

Analysis: Klaus had been the club's third-choice option before being thrown into his Bundesliga debut in the 31st minute of the Leipzig fixture when Frederik Ronnow (groin) was forced off, immediately making an impression with a spectacular fingertip save onto the crossbar. He went on to start the subsequent fixtures against Koln and Mainz, winning both with confident performances that showcased his quality and composure under pressure. Sporting director Horst Heldt praised Klaus for his discipline, will and team spirit since day one, noting that having their third-choice goalkeeper step in without hesitation is far from guaranteed and speaks to his quality. Klaus himself expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to fulfil a lifelong dream at Bundesliga level, pledging to continue giving everything for the club and its fans in the seasons ahead.

Concedes once in win

Klaus allowed a goal while making two saves during Sunday's 3-1 win over Mainz.

Analysis: Klaus allowed a goal in the 48th minute but held Mainz from there as Union found two late goals to claim all three points. The keeper has allowed four goals while combining for eight saves over his last three appearances. Union end the season with a home clash against Augsburg.

Makes two saves versus Koln

Klaus made two saves and allowed two goals in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Koln.

Analysis: Klaus had a mixed fantasy outing as he denied a couple of good chances during his first start of the season. He was originally Union's third goalkeeper but was required due to the injuries of Frederik Ronnow (groin) and Matheo Raab (hand), both of whom are likely to miss the remainder of the season. Such situation leaves Klaus with two more chances to produce in 2025/26, with the first of them coming next Sunday at Mainz, who scored 20 goals over their previous 16 home games.

Called into duty

Klaus allowed a goal while making four saves during Friday's 3-1 loss to Leipzig.

Analysis: Klaus entered the match in the 31st minute with his side down 2-0, replacing the injured Frederik Ronnow. It was a Bundesliga debut for Klaus and with both Ronnow and second choice keeper Matheo Raab injured, the 31-year old could be in line for his first career start next week at Leverkusen.
